Season 4 and its spinoff Neagley are still sitting near the top of the Prime Video charts, and is adding to the momentum with another entry in the Jack Reacher series.

Child’s latest and 31st installment in the series is titled Chain Reaction, and it will officially release on October 20, 2026, nearly a month after Neagley premiered on September 16. He co-wrote the book with his younger brother, Andrew, and according to Penguin Random House, the new novel is being published by Bantam, Lee’s long-time publisher.

The novel comes in 416 pages in US hardcover, with Penguin listing its price as $34. The ebook and audiobook versions are also set to release on October 20, the same day as the hardcover.

The book’s official synopsis centers on General Susan Turner, a Pentagon insider whose team member has been brutally murdered on covert duty. With no one she can trust, not even her deputy, she needs an outsider who solves problems and vanishes without a trace.

That search leads Reacher to Summertown, Colorado, a remote town with one diner, one motel, five massive data centers, two giant solar farms and a population of four. One of those four is watching him.

Turner is a familiar name for longtime readers, having featured in Never Go Back, the 18th novel, and Chain Reaction brings her back as a general. Movie viewers may know her from the 2016 film Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, where Cobie Smulders played her opposite .

Chain Reaction arrives while the franchise is peaking on screen, with both Reacher and Neagley still near the top of the Prime Video charts.

How Big Are Reacher and Neagley on Prime Video Right Now?

On FlixPatrol’s Amazon Prime Top 10 for the United States on October 14, 2026, Neagley sits at No. 2 overall, 27 days after its debut. Reacher holds No. 3 after climbing one spot, and it has now spent 62 days on the chart. Only , which premiered on October 7, ranks ahead of them.

On Amazon’s own figures, Neagley reached 40 million viewers globally in its first 13 days, making it the fourth most-viewed original series debut in Prime Video history, with 52% of its viewership coming internationally.

Reacher Season 4 posted even bigger totals, amassing 66 million viewers globally in its first 28 days, with nearly 60% of that coming from outside the US. On Nielsen’s US chart, the show opened at No. 1 with 1.5 billion minutes watched for the week of August 10 to 16, and it recently notched its fifth consecutive billion-minute weekly tally.

That success has already paid off behind the scenes. Prime Video renewed Reacher for a sixth season on September 28 while Season 5 is still filming, and it ordered a second season of Neagley just days later.

The show also hasn’t followed Lee Child’s publication order. Season 3 adapted Persuader, the seventh novel, and Season 4 adapted , the 13th. Season 5, now filming in Toronto, will adapt Make Me, the 20th novel, while the book for Season 6 hasn’t been announced.

Chain Reaction hits shelves, ebook and audiobook on October 20.
