Inde Navarrette may not have to wait until 2028 to suit up as Rogue. According to trade insider Jeff Sneider, the newly cast X-Men star is expected to first appear as the character in Avengers: Secret Wars, well ahead of her own X-Men film.
Navarrette was confirmed as Rogue during Marvel Studios’ D23 panel earlier this month, joining a rebooted mutant lineup that includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister.
The reboot, directed by Jake Schreier, isn’t due in theaters until May 5, 2028. Avengers: Secret Wars, directed by the Russo brothers, arrives more than a year earlier.
Speaking on his InSneider podcast, Sneider said he’d heard directly that Navarrette’s Rogue would show up in the Russos’ film first, tying her into the wider Avengers roster before her own franchise even begins production.
“I’m told that Indie is going to be in Secret Wars,” he said.
Sneider added that he wouldn’t be surprised if several of the new X-Men cast members turn up in the film, calling it a natural way to seed the team before their solo reboot.

Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey is already tied to the film

Sneider isn’t the only one connecting the new X-Men cast to Secret Wars. Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey has already been reported as part of the film’s ensemble, following her debut as the character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, giving Marvel a second mutant already positioned to cross over before the reboot arrives.
That pattern lines up with what’s expected to happen to the franchise’s older continuity. Sneider has floated that the Fox-era X-Men are likely to be written out during Avengers: Doomsday, clearing space for Marvel to fold in faces like Navarrette and Sink through Secret Wars instead.
Avengers: Secret Wars is set for a December 17, 2027 release. If the report holds, moviegoers could be meeting Navarrette’s Rogue on the big screen nearly six months before her X-Men reboot even wraps production.
