The Devil Wears Prada 2‘s director, David Frankel, said that Adrian Grenier wouldn’t appear in the sequel since they did not have enough time to shoot the actor. Even though the studio considered casting Nate Cooper in the movie again, Frankel and his team couldn’t afford to make any delays since the actor could not join them at the moment. As reported recently, Grenier admitted that he was not offered to reprise his role. But he found the concept of the movie appealing to viewers.
A Planned Cameo Dropped Due to Scheduling Limits
While making interviews for the upcoming film, Frankel said that he had considered including Grenier in the movie with a cameo role. However, the producer understood that they would have to spend some money on the idea to realize it. “At one point I considered sneaking him into a cameo, but it was just too late in the production process for me to do that,” the filmmaker said. Consequently, they could not achieve the expected result.
Regarding the plot, the focus of the movie will be on the career paths of Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt. In addition, while Streep and Hathaway will continue playing the roles from the original movie, Emily’s part has changed. Thus, she plays the leading woman who reached the highest executive status in the company Dior.
Besides that, Miranda Priestly continues to be the owner of Runway magazine. But in the modern world, it becomes harder and harder to maintain popularity. Stanley Tucci appears in the film as well.
Therefore, it can be stated that the sequel won’t mention anything about Andy’s old life. Since the heroine concentrates on developing her career, it makes sense not to mention her previous personal life and avoid Nate Cooper’s presence in the movie.
Nevertheless, many fans responded negatively to this fact due to their nostalgia for the first movie.
