Fans of the sports romance anime Blue Box finally have a date to circle. Netflix and the anime’s official channels confirmed on August 26 that Season 2 will premiere on October 4, 2026, with a new main visual, trailer, character reveal, and theme songs setting the stage for Taiki and Chinatsu’s return.
What To Expect From Blue Box Season 2
A new main visual features Chinatsu Kano in a snowy winter setting, with the close-up artwork showing her bundled in warm clothing against a pale, snow-covered backdrop. Snowflakes surround her as she gazes ahead, giving the image a distinctly wintry feel.
The new trailer also introduces Yumeka, a character whose arrival looks set to complicate Taiki and Chinatsu’s increasingly delicate relationship. Her presence comes as the two continue navigating feelings that have grown beyond Taiki’s original crush, leaving plenty of room for new tension between the pair.
February 1985 is expected to be the backdrop for the next stage of the story, bringing the characters into a different part of the school year as their sporting ambitions and personal lives continue to collide. Valentine’s Day also factors into the new season, adding another emotional wrinkle to Taiki and Chinatsu’s evolving relationship.
Season 2 also brings a change behind the scenes. Daisuke Sato, known for Lupin ZERO, takes over as director from Yuichiro Yano, with the series moving to the new studio Electric Circus. Yuko Kakihara returns as series composer, while Miho Tanino is back as character designer, keeping two key members of the creative team in place.

Taiki remains at the center of the story as a badminton player who has long admired Chinatsu, a talented basketball player at Eimei Private High School. Their relationship has gradually developed from a quiet crush into something far more complicated, but the two still have plenty to figure out as they juggle school, sports, and their growing feelings.
The original manga by Koji Miura remains the source material for the anime, with VIZ Media publishing the official English edition. The story follows Taiki as he works up the courage to support Chinatsu’s ambitions while trying to figure out whether his own feelings might ever be returned.
Season 2’s new music was also announced alongside the release date and trailer. Aiko performs the opening theme, “Anata no Hana no Iro,” while elsewhere, Kikou provides the ending song, “blue in.”
With Yumeka entering the story, a new director taking charge, and the season moving into a snowy February setting, Blue Box is giving Taiki and Chinatsu a noticeably different backdrop for the next stage of their relationship. October 4 will reveal just how much those new circumstances change the story.
