Kagurabachi Chapter 138: Release Date, Where to Read, and What to Expect

Kagurabachi Chapter 137 pulled the Seitei War flashback back to Japan’s side, where Chiaki Soga told Kunishige Rokuhira and her brother Akemura that she had met their unborn son in a dream. Her answer to what his name would be was Chihiro.

The chapter ended on a report that the adjustments were complete and an order for Kunishige to report to the forge. Chapter 138 picks up from there.

Kagurabachi Chapter 138 releases worldwide on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 10 am ET, which is 7 am PT. Readers in Japan get it at midnight on Monday, November 9, and that same moment lands at 8:30 pm IST on Sunday in India.

No break has been announced for Weekly Shonen Jump issue 50, so the weekly schedule should likely hold.

What Happened in Kagurabachi Chapter 137?

Chapter 137, titled “Fork”, opened with Kunishige refusing Akemura an Enchanted Blade. He told Akemura that unwavering determination is a strength but also a danger, and that power this great belongs with people who second-guess themselves. The narration then filled in the war. Chiaki and Kunishige married on March 30, before Japan refused the Mikaboshi’s handover demand.

Japan mobilized about 32,000 sorcerers, lost roughly a quarter of them in the first phase, and surrendered its southeast after two months. In June, the Mikaboshi bombed Kanto research institutions, including the Datenseki Research Lab, so the Enchanted Blade project moved to the Soga clan’s Yagira Villa in July. By December a prototype was already deployed, while the real weapons were still being fine-tuned.

Akemura, guarding the villa, admitted he had never seen battle. He learned in secret that Chiaki was pregnant, and she said her visions had kept her on bed rest. When she announced it was a boy, Akemura asked if they had a name yet.

She said she had talked with the baby, and that his name was Chihiro. Akemura asked whether it was a prophecy, and the chapter cut away without an answer.

What To Expect From Kagurabachi Chapter 138

The forge is where I expect Chapter 138 to go. A war council in Chapter 137 admitted the Enchanted Blades still weren’t ready, and the next scene sent Kunishige to the forge after the adjustments were done. I read that as the first finished Enchanted Blades arriving, though the chapter doesn’t say so.

The December prototype also answers a question from Chapter 136. Shurin guessed Japan’s Datenseki sword was a prototype, and Chapter 137 confirms one was already deployed by December. That lines up with the Mikaboshi meeting Chapter 135 set in December, which suggests it is the sword the survivor reported. Shurin was right about the prototype, but the finished blades are the real threat.

Chapter 137 never returned to Shurin’s interrogation, and I think the story swings back to the Mikaboshi soon. Chapter 136 stayed in their camp, Chapter 137 stayed with Japan, and a back-and-forth would fit the war’s two sides. I don’t expect a direct answer on Chiaki’s vision next week, since the name looks like a thread the series will pull later.
