Kagurabachi Chapter 137, titled “Fork”, ends with Chiaki Soga telling her husband Kunishige Rokuhira and her younger brother Akemura Soga that she has already talked with their unborn son. She says it happened in a dream, and that his name is Chihiro.
Chihiro is the series’ protagonist, the 18-year-old son of Chiaki and Kunishige. This chapter sits inside the Seitei War flashback, years before his story begins, with Chiaki sheltering at the Soga clan’s Yagira Villa while Japan fights the Mikaboshi.
Chiaki isn’t a random dreamer, which is why her word carries weight. As the Princess Soga, her role centers on prophecy, and the series has already shown her foresee events, including Kunishige’s arrival in Tokyo. Her visions have flooded in since the war began, and it’s the only reason anyone can know the baby’s sex this early.

Some fans have compared the scene to Naruto meeting his mother Kushina. The idea is that Chiaki may have spoken to an older Chihiro through her prophecy gift, which would fit her saying she talked with him, not just saw him.
However, a separate theory ties her visions to Yura, the Hishaku leader whose group later kills Kunishige. In Chapter 123, Chiaki sees destroyed buildings after her letters with Kunishige are discovered, and asks whether a shared vision could have set Yura on his path.
While nothing in Chapter 137 supports it, every vision the narration describes before this one is a source of dread, which makes this the first that gives her something personal. It also ties Chihiro’s name to a vision instead of a decision, which feels deliberate for a character whose life is bound to the Enchanted Blades.

Kagurabachi Chapter 137 Recap

After Chapter 136 followed Shurin and the Mikaboshi Six, “Fork” stayed on the Japanese side of the war. It opened with Kunishige refusing Akemura an Enchanted Blade, then filled in the war through narration. Chiaki and Kunishige married on March 30, before Japan refused the Mikaboshi’s handover demand.
Japan evacuated its southeast and mobilized about 32,000 sorcerers, but lost roughly a quarter of them in the first phase and surrendered the region after two months. In June, the Mikaboshi bombed research institutions across the Kanto region. One target was the Datenseki Research Lab, the headquarters of the project to turn the Datenseki stone into the Enchanted Blades, the six swords Kunishige forged.
The project moved to Yagira Villa in July. By December a prototype was already deployed, while the real weapons were still being fine-tuned.
Akemura guards the villa and admits he has never seen battle. An official tells him in secret that Chiaki is pregnant, at her own request. When he visits, she says her visions have kept her on bed rest, and Kunishige says it’s too soon to know the baby’s sex.
But Chiaki says it’s a boy, and Akemura, delighted at the news that he’s going to be an uncle, asks if they have a name yet.
“I talked with him. His name is… Chihiro.”
The chapter then ends with a report that the adjustments are complete and an order for Kunishige to report to the forge.
Why Did Kunishige Refuse to Give Akemura an Enchanted Blade?

The refusal continues from Chapter 135, where Akemura, still 16, thanked Kunishige for saving Chiaki and asked for a blade because he hated how powerless he’d been to protect her. In Chapter 137 Kunishige says no again. He tells Akemura he would do anything for Chiaki, even more than Kunishige himself.
He calls unwavering determination a strength but also a danger. Power this great, he argues, belongs with people who stop and second-guess themselves. Seiichi Samura and Ibuki Misaka fit that description, since both carry real hesitation, while Akemura’s lack of it is what makes him unsuited.
The series makes that warning much darker. In the present day, Akemura is a primary antagonist known as the Sword Master. He wielded the Enchanted Blade Magatsumi in the Malediction, the massacre of the Mikaboshi on Shokoku Island, and the Kamunabi later imprisoned him under their headquarters for 18 years. Whatever happens between this scene and the Malediction, he ends up with a blade anyway.
Akemura’s opening plea, “I have to do this,” shows the same determination Kunishige warns him about. The war did not create it, only gave it somewhere to go. I think that’s what Kunishige recognizes, and the series has since proved his instinct right.
It also makes the uncle moment sting. Akemura beams when Chiaki tells him he’s going to be an uncle, and in the present he tells Chihiro he has known him since infancy and even bought his bib. That fierce love for his family is exactly what Kunishige refuses to trust with an Enchanted Blade.
