JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run Episode 5 dragged Gyro’s past into the open and turned the second stage into an explosive chase. Oyecomova’s bombs left almost nothing in the desert safe to touch, and Johnny’s Tusk had to keep up. With that fight behind them, the race ahead only gets rougher.

What Happened in Steel Ball Run Episode 5?

Episode 5, titled The Terrorist from a Faraway Country, introduced Oyecomova, a Neapolitan terrorist with a grudge against the Kingdom of Naples and the Zeppeli family, Gyro’s father Gregorio in particular. After an earlier attempt on the king’s life killed innocent people, he escaped imprisonment and made his way to America.
His Stand, Listen to My Rhythm, attaches timed explosives to objects and even substances like water and smoke. Mountain Tim tried to confront him and it went badly, and I thought that moment sold the danger better than any explosion. Fighting someone who can weaponize harmless surroundings leaves almost no safe ground.
Gyro and Johnny then chased Oyecomova while racing toward the Zombie Horse, whose restorative properties could help heal Gyro’s injuries.
Bombs hidden in water and a swarm of bees made the pursuit dangerous. Gyro’s Steel Balls and Johnny’s Tusk, which fires his spinning fingernails, worked together to catch Oyecomova off guard, and I loved seeing Johnny experiment instead of just following Gyro’s lead.

What to Expect From Steel Ball Run Episode 6

No official synopsis or preview has been released for Episode 6, so what comes next is unconfirmed. Gyro still needs to recover from the injuries he took, and the Zombie Horse was the whole point of that chase. I expect the aftermath of the Oyecomova fight to carry straight into the next leg of the race.
I will be watching Tim’s condition closely after the attack, since he already knows Johnny was framed for the racer murders. Gyro’s past is also out in the open now, which makes him a target for anyone who wants him off the course. Johnny has proven he can hold his own, and I want to see how far Tusk can go as the race pushes on.
Steel Ball Run Episode 6 streams on Netflix this Friday, October 23.
