Maisie Williams and have shared plenty of scenes together, but their bond runs deeper than the set of 2. The two actresses got surprisingly personal while filming the upcoming sequel alongside Sandra Bullock and Joey King.

Williams plays Antonia Owens, one of Sally’s grown daughters, alongside King in the film. Kidman and Bullock reprise their roles as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, both also stepping in as producers on the project.

Williams told Variety that meeting the pair left her starstruck before things quickly turned personal.

“I was overwhelmed, I was like blinking a lot and they just turned out to be the sweetest girls, taking such good care of us both. We were laughing we were joking we were talking about boys, love and what it’s like to love and lose.”

That mix of nerves and closeness lines up with how Kidman has described the set as well.

“We had an incredible cast,” the Oscar winner told Interview magazine in 2025. “A lot of times I don’t have fun when I’m filming because it’s more [Emotionally draining]. But I have such a strong relationship with all those women, so I felt protected and loved. It was just very, very safe.”

The onscreen material gave those conversations extra weight. The Owens family curse in Practical Magic has always centered on love carrying a painful cost, and Antonia’s arc in the sequel pulls directly from that history.

Williams stepping into a role shaped by heartbreak while getting real talk from Kidman and Bullock on the same subject adds a layer the script alone could not provide. Practical Magic 2 hits theaters on September 11, giving viewers a first look at how that offscreen closeness shows up onscreen.
