Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have only been back in Britain for a few days, but their return is already getting a warm reception from at least one branch of the Royal family.
The Sussexes, along with children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, landed in Birmingham on August 26 for what’s being described as an extended stay. Lady Eliza Spencer, Princess Diana’s niece and Harry’s first cousin, made her feelings about the move clear when asked about it publicly.

Spencer didn’t hold back when asked about the family’s return during an event in London the same day Harry and Meghan touched down.
“Absolutely, it’s exciting! We would love to be able to find some time to visit,” she said, per InStyle.
The 34-year-old model, who was in London launching her own rosé, was also asked whether she and Meghan might compare notes on winemaking, given the Duchess’s As Ever brand released its own rosé last year. Spencer left the door open, replying simply, “Maybe!”
Harry has stayed close with Diana’s side of the family throughout his years away from royal life. That bond was on display earlier this summer when Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet visited Althorp, the Spencer family estate where Diana grew up and is buried, spending time there with Harry’s uncle Charles Spencer and other relatives.
The same trip included a visit with King Charles at Highgrove, where Archie and Lilibet saw their grandfather in person for the first time in four years.
Now that Harry and Meghan have returned to the UK six years after stepping back from royal duties, those kinds of visits will no longer require a transatlantic flight. Archie and Lilibet are enrolled in a British school starting in September, and the family is expected to settle into a private residence outside London. They’re keeping their Montecito home, and neither Harry nor Meghan is returning as a working royal.
The move also lines up with work commitments in the UK. Harry is preparing for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, while Meghan remains in talks for a potential role in the third season of Netflix’s The Gentlemen, despite conflicting reports that the offer had fallen through.
