Reacher Season 4’s fifth episode, “Bridge,” dropped on Prime Video and confirmed Lila and Amisha Hoth are alive, dangerous, and still hiding a bigger operation than anyone in the show has pieced together yet. The episode hands viewers the most concrete evidence so far in the search for who they’re really working for.

“Bridge” opens with Reacher escaping the hotel massacre through a garbage chute and calling Tamara, who ties the karambit wounds on the dead attackers to two earlier murders: Jacob’s nephew Ben and an OnlyFans model named Mary Ellen.
Tamara’s read is that Lila and Amisha hired Mary Ellen to seduce Ben, killed her once she’d served her purpose, and then abducted him. That timeline shows a planned operation running well before Reacher ever crossed paths with either woman.
The episode also confirms Lila and Amisha survived the bridge chase from the previous hour by jumping into the river, and a source inside the Mayfield Police Department reveals they killed a local resident within hours of resurfacing just to steal his car.
Meanwhile, Russell Plum digs up a financial trail showing Lila had almost no footprint until a platinum credit card appeared in her name. That card paid to bring Lila, Amisha, and their bodyguards from Indonesia, and it also flew in a man named Tomas Waberi from Djibouti, a detail the episode raises and does not explain.
The last major reveal comes when Jacob, Tamara, and Plum finally open Anna Merrick’s recovered drive. It holds a single file: a 25-year-old photograph of Congressman John Sampson, his chief of staff Nolan Cahill, and Indonesian general Putra together.
It lines up with what Sampson already admitted to Reacher, that his Delta Force unit trained Putra’s soldiers decades ago, training Putra later used to slaughter political dissidents. The photo confirms that the drive was always about Sampson’s connection to Indonesia rather than anything tied to Reacher personally.

So, Who Are Lila and Amisha Really Working For?
Everything “Bridge” reveals argues against the idea that Lila and Amisha are acting alone. They’ve shown professional combat training, a financial network spanning at least three countries, the ability to vanish after a public bridge chase, and no hesitation about killing bystanders who get in their way. None of that matches the earlier cover story of a lone journalist and a grieving source chasing a scandal.
The most likely explanation the show has built toward is that the Hoths are working an agenda tied directly to Putra and the decades-old cover-up around Sampson’s Delta Force mission, whether they’re being paid to expose it, protect it, or use it as leverage against Sampson’s presidential ambitions.
The Tomas Waberi lead and the platinum card both point to a funded operation with real backing rather than two people improvising as they go. Reacher Season 4 has not named that backer yet.
Further muddying the waters, Reacher Season 4 has surrounded the Hoths with other compromised players. A CIA operative posed as a police officer to try to kill Reacher in his jail cell, and Jacob’s own uncle, Mayfield Police Lieutenant Monty DeRosa, turned out to be more interested in handing the group over to the FBI than actually helping them.
With bent cops and federal agents already circling the case, Lila and Amisha may not be the only players with an outside employer, which is exactly why the show hasn’t rushed to answer the question yet.

How Reacher Season 4 Changes Lila Hoth From the Book
Lee Child’s novel Gone Tomorrow, which Season 4 loosely adapts, gives Lila Hoth a very different history. Book readers know her as the story’s central villain, but her backstory traces back to Afghanistan and the Soviet-Afghan War rather than Indonesia, and she’s written as an extremist shaped by that conflict rather than a journalist with a fabricated cover story about a congressman.
The show has also renamed characters along the way, turning Svetlana Hoth into Amisha, and it added Russell Plum and the entire Monty DeRosa subplot, neither of which exists in the source material.
That means the show’s version of Lila and Amisha’s motive is being built from scratch, and the novel offers no roadmap for where the reveal is headed. With three episodes left before the season finale on September 16, Reacher Season 4 still has to explain who hired the hotel attackers, what role Tomas Waberi plays, and exactly who Lila and Amisha have been working for all along.
