The group’s Valentine’s Day chaos is barely behind them, and is already gearing up for its next round of teenage romance.

Season 2 has kept a tight weekly rhythm since its July premiere, and Episode 5 just delivered one of the season’s biggest turning points yet. Nishi finally confessed her feelings to Yamada, and even though his own attempt at a confession got interrupted, the two ended the episode as an official couple.

and Azuma’s slow burn also inched forward, with Azuma handing Taira a stick of gum for Valentine’s Day, leaving him thoroughly confused about whether it counted as a real gift.

What to Expect From Episode 6

Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, but Episode 5 left a few threads that feel too big to skip past. Here’s what we think Episode 6 could tackle.

With Yamada and Nishi now an official couple, we would not be surprised if Episode 6 spends time on the awkward new territory of them figuring out how to actually act like a couple in front of their friends, especially after their confession scene got interrupted before it could fully land.

Taira and Azuma feel just as ripe for follow-up. That single stick of gum left Taira spiraling over whether he now owes Azuma a White Day gift in return, and this show has never been shy about mining that kind of overthinking for both comedy and genuine tenderness. Episode 6 feels like the natural place for Taira to actually act on that anxiety.

We also would not rule out a quieter check-in on Suzuki and Tani themselves. The main couple has taken a bit of a backseat the last couple of episodes while the supporting cast caught up, so a return to their dynamic would fit the show’s usual pacing.

You and I Are Polar Opposites Season 2 Episode 7 is set to follow the week after, on Sunday, August 16.
