Fans watching the Hunter x Hunter‘s Succession Contest spiral into chaos just got a name to attach to one of its ugliest secrets. Furykov, one of Prince Benjamin’s private soldiers, spends chapter 415 pulling on a thread that leads straight to Beyond Netero.
Furykov has been a background presence for a while now, one of Benjamin’s guards who keeps close tabs on the other princes and their Nen users. Chapter 415 flashes back to roughly two months before the special martial law declaration, and it finally gives him center stage.
What he uncovers doesn’t just affect him. It reframes how deliberately Beyond has been steering the entire war of succession.
Furykov’s Curse and the Call to Beyond
Furykov realizes the Seed Urn Ceremony had already happened, and it clicks for him that a prince may be carrying the same curse he is. He works out that only one person could have hidden that fact this well, so he calls Beyond Netero directly and asks him outright if he placed the curse.
Beyond does not deny it. He tells Furykov the curse was set up as a safeguard for Kakin’s prosperity, meant to keep the Succession Contest moving without incident and to steer things toward Benjamin. Furykov warns him that his ability would expose a lie, and Beyond just laughs it off before continuing to explain himself.
What Beyond’s Plan Actually Means
According to Beyond, the curse has been sitting inside Furykov since birth and only activates once Beyond himself dies.
At that point, it becomes Post-Mortem Nen and kills a specific prince. Furykov tries to decrypt it with his own ability, Combo Master, but the process would take about 365 days, with another 700 days needed to build an antidote. That timeline makes removing it during the voyage close to impossible.
Furykov suspects Camilla could be the real target, given her ambitions to reform Kakin’s political system would threaten whatever Beyond is building. Beyond won’t confirm a name and instead dares Furykov to figure it out himself.
He does admit he wants Benjamin to win, since a friendly king means continued backing for his expedition and a future foothold near the Dark Continent. He then pushes Furykov toward helping eliminate the remaining princes before the Black Whale reaches the fake Dark Continent, framing it as the only realistic way to end the contest.
This flashback lands right as Benjamin’s soldiers move more aggressively, and martial law tightens its grip on the ship. Knowing Beyond planted a literal time bomb inside one of Benjamin’s own men adds a layer of dread to everything Furykov does going forward, since his loyalty and his life are both leverage in someone else’s plan. It also confirms just how far in advance Beyond was willing to manipulate the succession, long before the Black Whale ever reached open water.
Hunter x Hunter chapter 416 is expected to pick up the fallout from Furykov’s discovery as the Black Whale’s power struggle keeps escalating.
