Spider-Noir star Li Jun Li told The Direct that Cat Hardy’s feelings for Ben Reilly were genuine, and that she kept hoping the pair would find their way back to each other after Season 1. The Prime Video series ended on a bittersweet, unresolved note between the two. The future of that romance has since changed.
“I absolutely believe that Cat has a real connection and takes real interest in Ben [Reilly], and I absolutely think that she was falling for him. I mean, I still have hope for them,” Li said.
Li’s reasoning went beyond chemistry. She pointed out that Flint Marko had abandoned Cat twice as he lost control of his Sandman powers, leaving her without answers. Against that backdrop, Ben offered something different.

According to Li, their first meeting was the first time either character had met an equal, someone sharp, witty, and emotionally intelligent. That banter, she noted, is something Cat does not share with Flint.
“I think that she is just an inherently good person trying to make a difficult situation work,” she said.
However, in a surprise decision, Prime Video canceled Spider-Noir after eight episodes, meaning there will be no Season 2. The news landed as the series headed into the Emmy ceremonies with 11 nominations, the most of any Prime Video program this year.
The show earned a 92% critics score and 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it dropped off Prime Video’s daily Top 10 relatively quickly, and the cost of a period superhero series likely factored into the decision.
All eight episodes of Spider-Noir are streaming on Prime Video.
