The wait for One Piece Chapter 1187 is almost over, and early spoilers are already painting a chaotic picture for the Egghead arc. Imu is no longer just a shadowy figure pulling strings from the throne; the World Government’s true ruler is now fighting on the front lines, and the results are devastating.

Loki has spent the last several chapters going toe to toe with Imu, backed by the power of his ice hammer. Fans have been waiting to see what Imu can actually do in combat since the character was introduced, and Chapter 1187, titled “Ringleader,” finally answers that question in brutal fashion.

Imu Unleashes a New Named Attack Against Loki

According to the spoilers, Imu counterattacks after being struck by firing demonic energy from both hands at Luffy and Loki. Loki manages to pin Imu beneath an unbreakable block of ice, but when his hammer strikes it, the ice simply melts away.

Imu then creates a talking flame directly on Loki’s chest before firing a massive aura sword straight through his body, striking the exact spot where the flame sits. The attack is named Stigma, translated as the Demonic Sword, and it marks the first time Imu’s combat style has been shown in this kind of detail.

Elsewhere in the chapter, Zoro is shown facing off against Sommers while Sanji continues his fight with Killingham. During a quiet moment, Sanji remembers Gaban telling him he has the qualities of someone with Conqueror’s Haki, and Gaban follows it up with a pointed message: become a king, if Sanji truly wants Luffy to become the Pirate King.

The chapter’s final pages bring the moment fans have been anticipating. Luffy arrives before Imu in Gear 5, and Imu greets him by saying, “So you’ve finally appeared… Joy Boy.” Luffy fires back immediately, rejecting the name entirely: “Stop calling me by another name!! My name is Luffy! I’m the man who will become the Pirate King!!”

The final page reportedly features English text reading “Saint Nerona Imu VS Monkey D. Luffy,” setting up what looks like the confrontation this arc has been building toward since Egghead began.

One Piece Chapter 1187 releases globally on July 5, 2026, on MANGA Plus and Viz Media.
