After years of speculation about Jessica Jones‘ fate in the Marvel universe, Krysten Ritter has finally confirmed her return as the character. The actress appeared in the latest episode of Daredevil: Born Again, Season 2 – Episode 6 called “Requiem,” which aired on April 21, 2026. It should be noted that this is the first time the actress has portrayed Jessica after the end of her own show on Netflix.

In the series, the character underwent some transformation in terms of her personal life, as now Jessica has a daughter named Danielle. This element of her biography creates new motivation for the character but does not change her essence in any way. Now Jessica works as an ally of Matt Murdock, portrayed by Charlie Cox, who experiences constant attacks from the anti-vigilante task force of Mayor Wilson Fisk.

Season 3 Production Confirms Expanded Role and Defenders Reunion

Despite the fact that Ritter made some comments about her participation in this project during interviews, all of those were confirmed later. In addition, filming for season three of the project started on March 17, 2026, in New York. Then on April 3rd, Ritter joined the cast, including Cox, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones.

As can be seen from the production of season three, Vincent D’Onofrio returns to the series and continues his role as the central character, Wilson Fisk. As the shooting is planned to be completed in July, the premiere of the season may take place in March 2027. This project will become one of the most significant entries in Marvel’s Phase Six lineup.

For the participation of Jessica in the show, it seems to have caused quite a lot of problems for Ritter because she had to constantly avoid answering questions regarding her participation in the series. Additionally, Ritter expressed her excitement about the idea of portraying Jessica, who has a child.

With that said, there is no doubt that Jessica Jones became a very important part of the project that continues the storyline successfully.
