Seraphina just joined forces with Kat in MobLand season 2, episode 2, but Mandeep Dhillon says it isn’t a surrender. It’s the first move in a long game, and the endgame is taking Kat down and claiming the top spot herself.
Mandeep Dhillon Breaks Down Seraphina’s Cutthroat Endgame to Take Down Kat
Unpacking Seraphina’s pivotal choices in episode 2, Dhillon explained that her character’s decision is rooted in pure self-preservation and cold pragmatism. After narrowly escaping death in season 1, Seraphina took a hard look at her own family’s operation and realized their sloppy decision-making and endless tactical errors were leading straight to a fatal collapse.
“It’s a thing of never wanting to be in a position where she has such a close experience with death actually,” Dhillon told Collider. “Also, she’s very smart and she can see ahead of her and she can see that this ship is sinking and she’s very aware that okay, if it’s sinking, I’m not going to sink with it. So, she’s making moves for herself.”
However, pledging loyalty to Kat is far from an act of submission. Dhillon confirmed that Seraphina is merely using Kat’s infrastructure as a stepping stone to execute a far deadlier long game: eliminating Kat from the board entirely.
“Even though she is with Kat, I feel like Seraphina 100% wants to then take Kat down,” Dhillon stated. “Seraphina’s going for the very top of the top of the top. She wants that power. She wants to be able to be the person who can not only just make moves, but actually sit back and rest for a bit in life and be like, ‘Okay, cool. I can delegate, you guys do you.'”
Rather than go down with her family’s operation, Seraphina is using Kat to stay alive while she positions herself for the top. If Dhillon is right, the alliance is only a stepping stone, and Kat could be the last to see it coming.
