Anson Boon Explains How Eddie and Gina Fell in Love After MobLand Revenge Scheme
During the series’ inaugural season, Eddie set his sights on Gina with cold, vindictive intention, aiming solely to inflict maximum damage on her father, Harry. But reflecting on the emotional development shown in episodes 1 and 2, Boon confirmed that what began as tactical psychological warfare has completely dissolved into genuine romantic affection.
“I 100% think there are real feelings now between Eddie and Gina,” Boon revealed to Collider. “I think in series 1, it was part of Eddie’s plan to get at Harry, and he thought how could he hurt Harry the most, and it would be to get with Harry’s daughter.”
According to Boon, spending months together forced both characters to recognize that they share a profoundly unique bond that no one else in their world can possibly comprehend. Raised in high-society isolation by brutal gangsters, bouncing between elite London private schools and luxury countryside estates in the Cotswolds, they found solace in their identical upbringings.
“Gina and Eddie have found a real common ground because nobody else can relate to their lived experience,” Boon explained. “Being raised by these gangsters and being totally isolated… I just think they have a lot in common. And to be honest with you, as the actor playing Eddie, I’m quite proud of him for standing his ground against his grandma.”
Eddie’s loyalty is already being tested. Boon said he’s proud of Eddie for standing his ground against his grandma, even as Maeve tries to push Gina out of the picture.
Gina isn’t backing down either. In episode 2, she tells her mother she can handle Eddie, and she’s not playing games. It’s a united front that could challenge both of their families.
What began as a weapon against Harry may now be the one thing neither family can control, with MobLand season 2 episodes dropping weekly on Paramount+ on Fridays.
